İzmir Airport to City Centre, Kuşadası and the Coast

İzmir Airport to city centre is fastest by İZBAN suburban train — Alsancak is about 28 minutes away — or by HAVAŞ bus, taxi, private transfer or hire car; at night ESHOT buses fill the gap. Kuşadası, Çeşme and Alaçatı have no train: HAVAŞ buses, transfers and taxis go there by road.

There is no metro at İzmir airport. Airport signs say “Metro-İZBAN”, but the line that stops here is the İZBAN suburban train; you change to the İzmir Metro at Hilal or Halkapınar.

A transfer is priced per vehicle, a bus or train ticket per person and a taxi by the meter, so the cheapest option depends on your group size.

İzmir airport to the city centre by train

For Alsancak, Konak or Karşıyaka by day, the İZBAN train is the obvious choice: the station is beside the terminals and Alsancak is about 28 minutes away. For Konak, change to the metro at Hilal or Halkapınar. The HAVAŞ bus to Alsancak and Karşıyaka is the alternative if you prefer a seat and a luggage hold.

İzmir airport to Kuşadası

Kuşadası is about 80 km away, roughly 1 hr 15 min by road. The HAVAŞ Kuşadası bus leaves from the arrivals exits, stops in Selçuk and ends at Kuşadası bus station. A private transfer goes straight to your hotel or to the cruise port, and taxis wait at the ranks. There is no train to Kuşadası.

Which option should you choose?

Heading to Çeşme, Alaçatı or Urla? There is no train to the peninsula. HAVAŞ runs there, or book a private transfer: a fixed price per vehicle, flight tracking and a driver waiting with a name sign.

ESHOT city buses: night lines only

Four ESHOT lines serve the airport: 200 to Mavişehir, 202 to Cumhuriyet Meydanı in Alsancak, 204 to Bornova metro via the main bus station (Otogar) and 206 to Şirinyer. According to ESHOT’s timetable they run only at night, covering the hours when İZBAN is closed — there is no daytime ESHOT bus straight to the terminals. Pay with an İzmirim Kart, sold and topped up at the airport İZBAN ticket office and kiosks.
