İzmir Airport Terminals: Domestic and International Guide

İzmir Airport terminals are two separate passenger buildings at İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport (IATA code ADB, ICAO code LTBJ): the International Terminal, opened in 2006, and the larger Domestic Terminal, opened in 2014. Both are run by TAV Ege, the airport operates 24 hours a day, and each building has its own check-in, security, lounge and arrivals exit.

Two buildings

The International Terminal was built by the TAV consortium and opened on 9 September 2006; it is designed for about 10 million passengers a year. The Domestic Terminal opened on 23 March 2014 and is designed for about 25 million. Together they offer roughly 35 million passengers of annual capacity.

Moving between the domestic and international terminals

The terminals are separate buildings, so changing between them is not just a walk to another gate. According to TAV, passengers who fly in from abroad and continue to İzmir on a domestic connection land at the Domestic Terminal and are directed to international arrivals for baggage and customs; passengers arriving on a domestic flight and continuing abroad are guided to the International Terminal by the ground-handling staff.

Follow the transfer signs and the staff, and leave a generous connection time — especially on separate tickets.
