İzmir Airport Car Hire: Rental Desks, Return and Tolls
İzmir Airport car hire desks — more than twenty companies — are in the arrivals halls of İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport, open 24 hours a day. Cars are collected from and returned to the ground floor (level 0) of the Domestic Terminal multi-storey car park — ideal if you plan to explore the Çeşme peninsula, Ephesus and the coast at your own pace.

According to the terminal operator TAV, companies at the Domestic Terminal include Sixt, Europcar, Hertz, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Goldcar, Green Motion, Garenta, Çizgi, Avec, Duray, Erboy, Central, Windy, Rent Go, Papillon, Zeplin, Dokay, Wish and Turmobil. At the International Terminal you will find Çizgi, Erboy, Anadolu, Payless and Boycar. The list changes from time to time, so check your booking confirmation for the desk location.

Driving licence and passport
Bring your full licence and passport. Each company sets its own minimum age and how long you must have held a licence; some ask for an International Driving Permit.

Most companies block a deposit on a credit card in the main driver’s name. Debit cards are often not accepted for the deposit.

Check and photograph any scratches before you drive off, and agree the fuel level.

Return
Cars go back to level 0 of the Domestic Terminal multi-storey car park. Allow time to walk to your terminal — international flights leave from the other building.
Motorway tolls and driving tips
Türkiye’s motorways use electronic tolls, collected through the HGS tag or sticker. The İzmir–Çeşme and İzmir–Aydın motorways, which you use for Çeşme, Alaçatı, Selçuk and Kuşadası, are tolled. Rental cars usually come with an HGS tag and the company charges the tolls afterwards; ask at the desk how it works.
In summer, parking in Alaçatı and central Çeşme is hard to find, and the peninsula roads fill up on Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons. In central İzmir, the train and ferries are often easier than driving. Drive times from the airport: Urla 45 min, Selçuk 55 min, Kuşadası 1 hr 15 min, Çeşme 1 hr 15 min.
